ACCESSIBILITY

Service

Assistance dog

Anyone who needs a service dog is permitted to enter the Museum with it.

 

Ramps and armchairs

With the exception of Maison Samuel-Bédard, ramps have been provided to facilitate access to the Museum and the exhibition rooms for anyone travelling in a wheelchair.

 

Guided tours adapted

If requested, guided tours of the exhibitions can be adapted for groups or people with disabilities.

Rest and reading

Enjoy a breathtaking view of the Péribonka River with a good book, a notebook or your laptop. By far one of the most beautiful municipal libraries in Quebec!

Located on the second floor of Espace Péribonka, the library and the outdoor terrace are accessible via the building’s central elevator.

For people with disabilities, note that the floor of the library is covered with a carpet and that the youth section, located on the mezzanine, is accessible by stairs or via a personal lift. In addition, plan the presence of four steps to have access to the outdoor terrace Groupe Rémabec.

Shopping & Discovery

With the mission of promoting and making discover to the greatest number the works of Louis Hémon as well as the richness of Quebec literature, the MLH boutique-bookshop offers a wide variety of books by local authors and presents in addition to local handicrafts and exclusive MLH products.

COFFEE SPACE

Rest and food

The Espace Péribonka building in which the MLH is located has three areas where you can rest and eat:

  • Hydromec terrace accessible from inside or outside the building (see EXTERIOR TERRACES section for details);
  • the Groupe Rémabec terrace accessible via the Bibliothèque Hélène-Laliberté (see section OUTDOOR TERRACES for more details);
  • the coffee area located near the main reception.

In addition to a coffee machine, the coffee area offers a microwave and sink.

Please note that drinks and food are not allowed inside the exhibition halls.

For people with disabilities, please note that the coffee machine and sink are arranged on a 70 cm high counter, while the microwave oven is located above this counter, at a height of 130 cm. If you need assistance, do not hesitate to speak to a member of our team.

PARKING LOTS

Service

Whether you come to visit us by car or bus, you will easily find free parking spaces near the MLH: at the back of the Espace Péribonka building, in the surrounding streets, at the municipal campsite, etc.

If you request it, a staff member will be happy to assist you in your travels.

Service

For cyclists, we offer several spaces located at the front and back of Espace Péribonka where you can safely store your bike for an exhibition!

OUTDOOR TERRACES

Rest and food

The Espace Péribonka building in which the MLH is located has two outdoor terraces where you can rest and eat :

  • Hydromec terrace accessible from inside or outside the building
  • the Rémabec Group terrace accessible via the Hélène-Laliberté Library.

For people with disabilities, please note that access to the outdoor terraces is limited by the presence of steps.

CLOAKROOM

Storage

A cloakroom is available at the entrance of the MLH near the main reception. You can drop off coats, backpacks and boots for free!

Please note that backpacks are not allowed in the exhibition halls.

WI-FI

Service

Espace Péribonka and the MLH are both equipped with free Wi-Fi coverage and available to all our visitors.
