Description
The artwork Labour, created for the exhibition À la force d’une terre, evokes agriculture, a central theme in Louis Hémon’s novel Maria Chapdelaine.
With the intent to represent fieldwork through curved lines, the artist experiments with various materials: he bends fine tree branches to achieve the desired shape, then covers them with the reverse side of a cotton canvas, secured with wire similar to that used in agricultural fencing.
This piece exemplifies Mathieu Rousseau’s creativity in using lines and materials to express a unique artistic concept, developed throughout the exhibition À la force d’une terre.
