Artist biography
Jacques Coulombe, a self-taught artist, has pursued a consistent creative journey since the mid-1960s, exploring a variety of materials such as iron, steel, aluminum, plexiglass, polyester resin, concrete, and wood. As a founding member of La Chambre blanche, he has played an active role in various cultural organizations and events, including the Association des artistes de Charlevoix, the Regard collective, the Village des arts at the Festival international de la jeunesse (1974), and the Regionalization or Centralization of Visual Arts symposium in Sherbrooke in 1978.
Alongside his solo and group exhibitions, he has created several works integrated into architecture, notably in Beauport and Saint-Raymond de Portneuf, as well as monumental sculptures. Some of his major projects include works at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (1974), the Musée Louis-Hémon in Péribonka (1985), and the Studios d’été de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli (1992).
