The Louis-Hémon Museum Foundation can acquire certain types of objects according to the collection fields established in its collection management policy.
Literary collection :
- The writings of Louis Hémon
- Priority to rare editions
- Priority to foreign language editions
Art collection :
Collecting works of art is no longer a priority for the Louis-Hémon Museum Foundation. However, since it already has a collection of this type, certain opportunities may be of interest in light of the collection criteria related to the museum’s mission.
- Works related to the literary corpus of Louis Hémon
- Works representing the cultural landscape of the region, specifically the Regional County Municipality of Maria-Chapdelaine
- Priority to works with an agricultural or forestry theme
Ethnological Collection:
- Ethnological objects related to the Samuel-Bédard House
- Everyday objects from the time of Louis Hémon’s visit in 1912
- Objects representing the daily life of theinhabitants of the Lac-Saint-Jean region (Jeannois) at the beginning of the 20th century
- Objects related to the exploration of a literary theme
Selection Criteria
In addition to the collection field, the acquisition committee, which meets once a year to discuss offers, bases its decisions on specific criteria to accept or reject a donation.
