A Day at the Museum

Péribonka, where stories begins.
Located in the heart of the Saint-Édouard Church in Péribonka, amidst a grand and majestic setting, this new permanent exhibition is a celebration of the richness and diversity of literature. While honoring stories deeply rooted in Péribonka, such as Maria Chapdelaine , the exhibition playfully and interactively highlights the sources of imagination of more than thirty authors.

Exploring the Samuel-Bédard House
Take a trip back in time to the early 20th century, into the heart of the colonial history of Northern Lac-Saint-Jean/Pekuakami, by visiting the Samuel-Bédard House, which was the primary source of inspiration for author Louis Hémon in writing the novel Maria Chapdelaine .
Please note that the Samuel-Bédard House is closed during the winter season, but we offer the opportunity to visit it through virtual reality.

The Art of the Five Senses
This workshop is an invitation to explore the world of the senses through art and storytelling, transforming them into characters, inventing extraordinary stories for them, giving them superpowers, and even imagining what it would be like to live without them.

The Imaginary Odyssey
In this collective literary creation workshop, everyone contributes to the development of an epic story where quirky characters and fantastical places intertwine. Each imagined element acts as a creative relay, enriching the world being built and making it increasingly strange and captivating.

The Unseen Faces of the Museum. Part 1: Quest for Identity
In addition to stimulating creativity and interest in works of art, this workshop invites participants to reflect on the concept of identity and the role a character plays within a story.
Using various portraits of unknown individuals from the Fine Arts collection at the Louis-Hémon Museum, we invite the group to rewrite the stories of the people depicted, drawing inspiration directly from the artworks.

The Unseen Faces of the Museum. Part 2 : In Time and Place
Building on the characters created during the first workshop, we propose integrating them into a spatiotemporal setting inspired by works from the Louis-Hémon Museum’s collection.
With the continued aim of stimulating creativity and interest in art, this workshop encourages young participants to reflect on their relationship with time and space and on the importance of these two elements within a narrative.
Audience: Elementary (3rd cycle), Secondary, and College
Duration: 60 minutes

Versus
In this workshop, young participants are invited to engage in a friendly literary creation duel with an AI. Starting from a common theme, both parties are encouraged to write a short text, which will then be shared and discussed in a group setting, focusing on various appreciative elements. The activity aims to stimulate reflection on the evolution of creativity in the digital age and to appreciate the unique value of the human touch in literary art.
